It's SOOOO close to Greece! We will be on a plane in TWO DAYS!
Currently, Brandon is bottling his beer with David. They have made another IPA, and I think they tested some and said it was pretty good. It must be pretty good because Niki was impressed with their efforts. Hopefully the rest of the process goes well!
So Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Brandon and I were down in Berrien doing laundry for our trip, visiting family, running errands, etc. Brittany had her wisdom teeth removed Monday, and Caroline and I got our hair done on Tuesday. She got it all cut off, and it's super cute! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures for this post.
As Tuesday night started to roll around, my throat began to hurt. I didn't think anything of it, and just took some EmergenC to try and ward off any bad sickness that might be trying to creep up on me. About 4am I remember waking up because my throat hurt so bad. Brandon was awake as well (I think my thrashing around woke him), and he got me some salt water to gargle, and green tea. Neither helped, which I wasn't surprised, because I thought it was feeling like strep throat. I think I have a pretty acute memory of the last time I had strep, because even though I didn't have any other symptoms, I was fairly convinced, and called the doctors at 8:30am to set up an appointment as soon as possible. They were able to get me in at 10:30, which I was really thankful for. In the end I did have strep, but my lab results were funky. Instead of a straight red line on the test strip, I had a red blob that was bleed across a large portion of the strip. I can only assume this happened as a test strip fluke, or because I was able to get diagnosed so early. I was prescribed amoxicillin, and I started taking them the same day, because I didn't want it to get worse. And it's a good thing I did, because by the time 6pm rolled around my appetite had shrunk, my cough started, and I had a low-grade fever. We were all quite a site, I'm sure. Brittany with mouth and jaw pain, Michelle with foot pain, Brent and Brandon with back pain (Brandon went to the chiropractor on Tuesday, and is going back on Friday), and me with strep throat. Charlie was finally able to get us all in the living room because we just sort of bunkered down there for awhile. Normally when people are throughout the house, he will literally lay in the middle of everyone's proximity; such as the middle of the hallway on the wood floor. He's most content when we are all in the same room at once and he doesn't have to move too far to check up on everyone.
That was Wednesday, and today I feel great apart from a cough and a runny nose. I am willing myself to be perfect by Saturday. And I am taking some extra vitamin C to try and ward off any bugs co-passengers might spread!
Today has been filled with running around. Brandon and I are trying to finish last minute shopping for clothes, sunscreen, lotion. Brandon has done much more than I have, what a lucky girl with such a dedicated husband! He dropped off our forms for our International Student Cards, his International Drivers License (watch out, Europe!), cleaned the fridge, did the dishes, payed some bills, booked some ferries, dropped off and picked me up from work, bought a hard drive for our laptop... and we still have to back up the laptop, finish shopping at Walmart, transport our stuff from the apartment so we can pack it in Berrien (where our luggage is)...
Tomorrow I look forward to relaxing, and going out to dinner! I hope I don't get too anxious!
